In the early 1950s, Irwin Silverstein was a sophomore at Cornell. He wanted to transfer from hotel management to electrical engineering. The dean asked him if he meant "hotel management" or "electrical engineering," butSilverstein said it made more sense. Later in his career, he would credit that year and a half of college with helping him start first link of Qualcomm.
