Is There a Macro Architecture in Micro Services?

On the micro level, in your service, certain things you're just free to choose. And purely technical sense, right? Provided the service is a good citizen within itsthe application architecture. But from an organizational point of view, using java for allf is boring. It's lack of monads, functors and god knows what else that's a much better choice.
