How Does the Song Writing Process Work When Working With Other Artists?

A lot of your songs involve collaborations with other artists, but those songs still your signature sound. How does the song writing process work when involving other musicians, as opposed to writing on your own? And i want my fan base to see a little bit of a different side of me when i'm playing with a collaborator.
