How to Measure Distances in a Big Space
Using 3D glasses and type A supernovas how else can we measure distances in space. Red giants are stars near the end of their life when they've been burning hydrogen for a long time but aren't hot enough to burn that helium yet. There's a huge flash of light from this helium burning so these are peaking red giants. These are called tip of the red giant branch because astronomers think about all these stars on like a big branch of luminosity versus size.
