The Problem of Randomization in a Pandemic Environment
Martin mckey is a professor of public health at the london school of hygiene and tropical medicine. He says there are clearly practical difficulties when trying to do trials in a fast paced, highly pressurized environment. The first is the issue of speed. When you have a virus growing expedentially doubling every three days or so, it doesn't take very long to go from ten cases up to ten thousand or a hundred thousand. So that is the challenge. You have to act quickly. It would be nice if you did. Then, of course, there is the issue of political acceptability of all this.
