Who Are the Sons of God?

Who are the sons of God supposed to be that they would have unusually tall children? That's a very controversial subject among scholars. Some sources in the ancient world identify them as angelic beings who mated with human beings with women, but people immediately ask how it would be possible for an angel to mate with a human given that angels don't have bodies. So other theories have been proposed, but that's a different subject than we're exploring today.
