When i buy a bond, a say, let's say, three year bond at five %, i am getting fixed five rupees every year. But i'm committing to my fixed the rate of five % for three years. And what'll happen is, say, interest rates generally in the market go up. I have lost an opportunity to get five and a half %, and i am only getting five. Therefore, that loss of opportunity gets reflected in the bond price,. It might mean for a small period of time, depending on the bond that your coling.
