The Lord's Table Is a Kingly Banquet

As David wrote this Psalm, he seems to have been reflecting on the Exodus. He uses a lot of words and ideas that are strongly associated with that story from hundreds of years before when God rescued his people from slavery. So David is looking back to the glory of God on display as they learn about his character through the Exodus. But David's also prophetically looking forward. The ultimate display of God's character and glory would happen when God sent his son Jesus to die on the cross in our place for the forgiveness of our sins.
