A lot of these prophecies are increasingly coming true in like rapid fire style, I guess. Adam is realizing what that what he's saying is like changing the world around him. He gets to the point where he's splitting up the world between him and his three friends. And then they all get a little scared of him because he's getting pretty scary. They all try to run away and he tells them to stop and because he controls the world, they have to stop. That's not what he wants. At least not for his friends.
Good Omens was written by a sort of science fiction supergroup, Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. It's one of those books where it's as fun to chew on the turns of phrase as it is to find out what happens, which is pretty amazing since it's literally about the end of the world.
