The Differences Between Men and Women

Mill said that in the present constitution of society we could not tell whether they were the same or not. Women are systematically subjected to a different education from men where they're told this is what they should be doing, and their opportunities are completely different. As he says, women are tied in marriage to men and entirely dependent on them because of this legal subjection. Therefore it would be straightforwardly dangerous for many women to protest. So he's saying simply, we do not know how different the sexes are by nature.
