Universities have this rule now that if you commercialize any research, they get to have a stake in whatever you start doing. So it's almost kind of like a reverse of the brain drain from academia going to commercialize their projects. Berkeley is the one that most people should know. If I started my career over today and were young enough to go to college again, I might actually go to Berkeley because it has the best trade-off between public schools and top tier work.
