The Story of Morgan Morgan's Murder
A group of masons gathered around Morgan's house claiming that he owed them money. They tried to set fire to his newspaper office and when those attempts failed, a man named David Cade Miller went to the jail to pay the debt. A few hours later, they figured out a way to arrest Morgan again for a loan which they claimed he had not paid back. He was jailed again, this time in a different jail. On the night of September 11th, 1826, a man arrived who claimed to be a friend of Morgan's offering to pay his debt to secure the release. The next day, the carriage arrives at Fort Niagara. Several conflicting accounts exist about the following events.
