The New Medium Isn't Going to Critique Itself

Postman's thesis is that the current medium is far worse at communicating truths. And so like its awful self fulfilling prophecy, where the more we get hooked on this new medium, the less we look at the previous one. So the written word still stands uncritiqued. But television isn't going to critique itself. The oral tradition is going to critique the written word. Televisionis just going to supplant, supplant it. It's not a firm the written word's bad because it's excluding these things. You're missing the deep traditions and the deep means that comes through moving in this space.
