The Difference Between Imagining Red and Seeing Red
The self isn't the thing that does the perceiving, but just is the collection of perceptions. If my eyes were located on my chest, I wonder if I'd sort of feel my brain behind my eyes or whether I'd still feel it up in my head. There's this weird sense in which different kinds of experiences seem to be located at different parts of the body. We also have this bias that we associate the self with thought often. And most of us experience the thought as a linguistic verbal train of thought, as occurring somewhere up here too.
