For each extra pound you earn, you will lose 63 pence of your universal credit. The lowest earners face some of the highest effective tax rates if they go out and do in extra hours work. Legacy benefits means all the old benefits that we er have merged together to create universal credit. Local housing allowance is the amount that you get by the housing benefit system to help you pay your rent.
