Rosa's Dream of Becoming a Teacher
At age 11, Rosa was sent to a well-known all-girl school in Montgomery, Alabama. All of her teachers were white northerners. Not everyone was on board with the idea of white teachers teaching black children. On two separate occasions, fire was set to the school and in 1928, it was forced to close. She dropped out of school to take care of her grandmother and mother but later went back and got her high school diploma.
