What's the Difference Between Scientific and Non-Scientific?
Theory of evolution is wrapped up in a whole bunch of social practices, religious beliefs, political organization and technological advances. The kind of evidence that you produce to refute the ancient greek way of looking at things already assumes your new theory as being correct. And so when somebody says, appeals to the authority of science as a clear, rational enterprise that has authority, this is where fire robin is just like smoke is coming out of his ears and flames are coming from his eyes. But i don't know that you get out of it, though, is what it means to have some argument overcome another argument at all.
