At what point can a fetus learn? Does it happen right away? I mean, could you argue that it's learning in the womb? No, maybe. So i would say foetus probably meets that test, at least for some point during its development. It meets the test that the external forces are causing a physical change in its brain. That's probably the entire time that its being developed, i would guess. Nothing will be better than that standard. If you look at it and say, ok, that looks alive to me, then its alive. That's about the best we can do. And that you won't be able to beat that stand.
