The Second Amendment and the Politics of Gun Laws

In 1997, Clarence Thomas introduced the idea that the Second Amendment protects a personal right to bear arms for self-defense. That poison then gets repeated by law, by federal society law professors. The first person to put that into writing at the Supreme Court level is Clarence Thomas in this case in 1997. For people who haven't been following the development of the National Rifle Association, it's not how America worked for the first 200 years of Second Amendment.
