The Role of Locals in Race Relations in the Hawaiian Islands
Do you discern noticeable differences in the character of race relations in the Hawaiian Islands than one would say in Bay Area, California or whatever? I'll just tell a story about it. There's a strict localism around surf breaks,. Like there's a, each one, each surf break is kind of protected by a cadre of locals that go out and kind of are all friends. They all grew up together. Some of them have been surfing these breaks for like 40, 50 years. And so yesterday he was out at one near where we are right now. The locals, they all said, hi to me. All these people would, you know, if they were walking around San Francisco
