After Mary Cops Sterling's death in 1880, the murders was purchased by one of her sons. The property was sold back to Mrs. Sarah M. Winter two years later. Harrison Milton Williams brought his young son and second wife Fanny Linton Harrelson to the house in 1891. A local family has a reputation for their children getting killed farming as well.
