The Importance of Vulnerability in Ethics
I know you've written about the importance of vulnerability in our explorations of ethics. Do you think that inequality is bad in and of itself for its own sake? Or do you think of it as bad primarily, instrumentally, because it has negative effects? I try to take each capability separately and ask whether equal respect is jeopardized by various forms of inequality or not. And so the approach needs to vary with the thing you're talking about.
