Ramesses II would launch a number of campaigns into Canaanite lands during the 1270s. Remarkably the Shurdun seafarers who joined Ramesses Egyptian army were actually described by Ramesses himself as originally being allied to the Hittites. This leads us to the Battle of Kadesh which is a very significant ancient battle and as such we intend to devote next week's entire podcast episode to the battle itself. What we will say is that the battle was a considerable battle of wits and tactics between two great armies.
