The Essence of Psychoanalytic Theory
Lacan: The essence of psychoanalytic theory is the function of discourse. Read dysfunction of discourse. Containers, again, are not among their contents. There is a structural logical lack here,. This structural logical lack is especially apparent when it comes to totalizing containers. Totalizing sets like language, discourse, the symbolic and the big other part and parcel of their operation is their inoperativity. And I would even say that this inoperativity is the condition of possibility for their function.
