Introduction
In 19 57, the first satellite was launched into space to take its place amongst the stars. For the first time in history, half the world's population live in cities. The scale and rate of increase of our consumption of resources is catastrophic. Think of it as a new london every month. In 30 years, it may be as much as three quarters the urban population of the world are increasing at a rate of a quarter of a million people per day.
