Fabula: I think affirmative action matters because when we keep something like this in place, it's okay that people need assistance. If you want the most influential positions to look like the nation as a whole and not like white America, thenI do think it really matters that Harvard, Yale, Stanford, those sorts of schools are admitting a student body that represents the country as a whole. And so yes, while a few people maybe go in college out of what the total population is, it matters a lot. Earning a bachelor's degree means $900,000 more over a lifetime than someone who doesn't get one.
