The Story of Virginia Shepard

Hazel Shepard distributed Virginia's photo to bus and train stations. Within days Denton police received dozens of tips from people who might have seen her. Most led to nothing but a few sparked his curiosity. A waitress in Sherino, Texas, 160 miles south of Texarkana claimed she served a woman who went by the name of Virginia. The customer claimed Virginia ran away from home and was hitchhiking.
