CHAPTER

The Role of POCUS in Emergent Airway Management

Hans Rosenberg and Michael Gottlieb are going to chat about how we can use POCUS to help us with airway management. Ultrasound is 99 percent sensitive and 97 percent specific. This isn't affected by whether there's cardiac perfusion or not because it doesn't rely on CO2. And one of the other really nice things about this is it's fast. It takes about 13 seconds to confirm with ultrasound, which means you don't have to use any positive pressure ventilation in these patients.
