Bullockar's System of Spelling in the Late 1500s
Bullockar rejected spellings based on etymology like the bees in debt and doubt. He also used accent marks to distinguish soft and hard sounds of letter G as well as the two sounds of letter C. His spelling system was still a significant departure from the spelling system that most people were accustomed to.
