Back in the seventies, a, the running boom was whas the thing, you didn't see a lot of cyclists. So most of the athletes ive worked with were runners. And i noticed that these runners were getting fast er at the same heart rate. Not only that, but they were getting faster while training only at relatively low level of intensitystethey hadn't been doing speed work, and yet they weregetting faster. We can not only burn more fat at the lower intensity, but we can maintain a good gait, which means the muscles are functioning better,.
