Research shows that human beings do a poor job of predicting how they'll feel about a particular situation in the future and it causes us to over correct. Psychologists Dan Gilbert refers to this as affective forecasting so affective means emotion related to affect or emotion and forecasting he says we're just we're terrible affective forecasters. The best method psychologists have found is not for me to try to guess how I'm gonna feel but to ask other people how they think I will feel huh you see? So like if I were to ask you Dave how do you think I would feel if I get confronted in the classroom because I've inadvertently said something terrible you'll probably be better than I am.
