The Panic Around Dolls
i think both dolls speak to girls in different ways but i also think it's important to talk about the ways in which dolls are open-ended even as we may think that they're very scripted. Back in the day there was a popular feminist discourse that was very anti-barbie and in the early 2000s there was a feminist discourse that I was a part of that wasvery anti-brats. There's often a lot of panic around dolls because of course it has to do with children so i think dolls can be used to really interesting ways by children right?
