Nora's mother dropped her off at Laurie's front door with a wave, promising to pick her up later in the afternoon. The birthday girl was dressed from head to toe like a magical sprite. She clapped delightedly at the sight of her friend and then turned to show her costume from the back where two gauze wings hung from her shoulders.
