The Review of the National Hydrogen Strategy

Chris Bowen says he intends to be climate and energy minister for a very long time. He sees domestic as important, but domestic as the vehicle by which we will get to the export powerhouse. We are not going to export unless we develop our own domestic industry first. The $2 billion hydrogen headstart program is about developing the domestic industry with a view to becoming an export power. Once the technology and the commerciality and all the work has gone into developing that industry, the $2 billion won't spread far. I'm anticipating a relatively small number of projects through the hydrogen headstart projects program to basically turn all the talk and reality.
