The Dying of Threads in Textiles

As a curator working with the needlework and textiles of this period, you have to constantly be thinking about change and decay over time. We tend to think of the past as a foreign country where people were simpler and loved a pastel color. It's not true at all. When we look at the backs of these objects, they are so bright, they kind of border on the garish. And I think it shows that we've always loved color,.We've always loved vibrancy, we've always wanted to surround ourselves with the most dynamic information and, you know, visual input as possible.
