We tend to oscillate between various states as we move through life. The slow wave is the slowest activity of the brain in any time across your day or night. There's an up state which lasts half a second, and that's where allYour neurons actually come together and start firing on all cylinders during this up state. These two states are just, they regulate so much on an almost serrivlic under the radar way. So i have been studying sleep for most of my career.
