Theistic Evolution and Atheistic Evolution

Theistic is often included in the term because there are so many on both sides of the discussion, including atheists and young earth creationists who assume that evolution is atheistic. Many people include the adjective theistic to make it clear that belief in God and belief in evolution are compatible. In public, they allow Catholics to believe that God and Darwin are compatible.
