William the conqueror came along and decided that he needed huge swathes of land,. obasically, to breed deer so that him and his chums could hunt them for pastime. So you no longer had the right to ist of your local natural resource. You were forcibly expelled. And evicted from nature. As time went on, that became ratified by a new kind of profession of land surveyors and lawyers. Suddenly the land became a commodity and not a resource. It became more of an investment. But these days, we've just been born into a it where, effectively we've forgotten
