The Importance of Reproducible Results in Animals

In the early 2000s, there were incorrect non-reproducible papers published in worms and flies that claimed that extra copies of the worm and fly sirtu-related genes extended lifespan. But when independent research groups try to reproduce those results, they could not reproduce those results. So the sirtuin genes are not candidate longevity genes in animals. They were declared to be anti-aging genes in animals on the basis of research that has no value. In fact, the only value it had was to churn money on poorly interpreted and overhyped work.
