As long as the war on terror remains an undemocratic, alete enterprise, it will continue to disfigure the united states in profound ways. But that doesn't have to be what we accept of our political leadership during this sort of transition. The war on terror itself, as crucial as it is, is probably not going to be sufficient. There needs to beome an abolition of the war on Terror as an entrance point to a more fundamental overhaul of american foreign policy and so called national security in the 20 first century.
