Introduction

Earl Fontenelle: Pythagoras' life seems to be one big mystery. Probably born around 570 BCE on the Ionian island of Samos, we know almost nothing for sure about his early life. At some point he had to flee the local tyrant and moved to Croton in southern Italy. There he founded a movement unlike anything seen before in Greece with affinities to aspects of the mystery cult traditions.
