The Importance of Treating Work Like a Career

When I first started writing, I was still assuming I was going to go back to the classroom. But very quickly, just the time demand alone, I went, oh my gosh, this is work. This is an actual JOB. And so that's when I got really serious about my life too. My kids were still little, so I had to carve out work time like a person with a job.
