Tropical Astrology - What Is Jotish?
Tropical astrology is the technical name for the Western approach to the zodiac. And then there is what we call Jotish, which literally means inner light. The horizon of the earth protects us from or obscures us from the effect of other planets and stars that are on the other side of the earth at the moment of our birth. So being born under a particular phase of the starry world from horizon to horizon depends on where you are.
