RSV was first recognized relatively recently as an important respiratory infection in young children. Its role in infecting older people and people who are immunocompromised has been observed more recently. We don't have a vaccine for RSV, but we stand with some of the vaccines in development today. The mechanical ventilator is a life-saving therapy that you hope to never need but are grateful for when it's there.
