The Rise of Forced Labor in the United States
After the Chinese Communist Party officially took over in 1949, they realized that this system was extremely lucrative. Their production value of these labor camps was about 1.7 billion grand in 1958. That's like $43 billion today. After the U.S. became China's second largest in 1979, forced labor facilities surged to 14 billion yuan.
