The Negative Effects of Giving a Kidney
We have a revealed preference problem here. We can only harvest kidneys, which are going to be really functional. So we're looking at a fairly small group of people who could become organ donors. What we typically do is even if you've got an annotation on your driver's license, but you're willing to give up your organs, we'll ask for family. That's a hard thing to ask. Antas just come off his, Harley Davidson, Superbike. We've determined clinically that he's brain dead. Now we ask, will you give up the organs? And if a family says no, then we usually don't take the organs.
