Why Do We Need This Level of Complication?

Excessive detail can really bog even the most zen person down. What are we actually gaining from this excessive level of detail? And i've got some examples too, because i've had quite a few things recently where it's been like complications. So if you make the mistake of going down this never ending spiral of detail, it gets really, really easy to lose sight of the outcome that you're even chasing. The more am ill fitting a solution can be, the more detailed and complex complexity you must go into in order to make it fit.
