The Trade-Off Between Cortex-Orphanos and Prometheus

The metric space is very competitive. We wanted to build a new project where we will be able to, not specifically everyone was contributing to Cortex and we were the biggest maintainer in contributor. Having our own project gives it more duty, but also it helps us to make sure that all the competitors are not taking advantage of our work for free. It wasn't really possible without building a new project with a different license. Otherwise it would just be giving away a walk, you know, to our competitor. I think this is healthy for the ecosystem.
