The One True Sentence Concept
One true sentence can be chosen because you like them stylistically or structurally, or it tells you something tematically about something. We've had some contributors talk about the last sentence of the sonos rises, isn't it pretty to think so? That would be on my short list of sentences. And what i like about it is that hemingway trusts the fiction to do it. He seems like the smartest guy in the room to say that, but he's king it as a question. There's some real regret in there and some sort of wistfulness that comes through.
