The Metals Company's Chief Executive Gerard Barron spoke to Jocelyne Hoyle after the talks in Kingston. "We are engaged in a race and all levels to increase mining output throughout the planet," he said. Between 15 and 20 percent more mining is needed per year on the horizon of 2050, according to Mr Barron. The question is where are we going to source those metals? There is an important geopolitical dimension to this discussion as China dominates our supply chains.
